Pegasor Collaborates on UNIC Project on Aviation Emissions
We are proud to announce our participation in the European Union’s UNIC project, Understanding Non-CO2 Impact for deCarbonized Aviation. This initiative focuses on gaining a deeper understanding of aviation-related emissions and developing mitigation strategies to support cleaner and more sustainable air travel.
About the UNIC Project
The UNIC project is a multi-stakeholder EU-funded research initiative aimed at improving the measurement, modelling, and understanding of aviation’s non-CO2 emissions, including nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. It also investigates the effects of alternative fuels such as Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and hydrogen, contributing to the transition toward greener aviation.
Pegasor’s Contribution
Pegasor brings its expertise in real-time particulate matter (PM) sensing to the project, playing a key role in advancing emission measurement technologies. Our unique technology, based on patented escaping current measurement principles, provides a highly robust and stable measurement signal, multiple output signals, extensive self-diagnostics, and an exceptionally long maintenance interval.
The electrical measurement technology employed by Pegasor offers a broad dynamic range, enabling its use in various applications related to aviation emissions—from raw, unfiltered engine emissions to ambient and indoor air quality monitoring. This versatility makes it an ideal solution for measurement chains covering the entire aerosol formation cycle to exposure assessments. By eliminating inconsistencies between different sampling and measurement techniques required for varying applications, Pegasor’s technology ensures accuracy and reliability across the board.
Through our involvement in UNIC, Pegasor aims to enhance the precision of emission measurements and contribute to the development of effective emission reduction strategies. The project’s findings are expected to influence regulatory frameworks and support the broader goal of minimizing aviation’s environmental impact.
UNIC is a four-year project funded under the Accelerating Climate-Neutral Aviation, Minimizing Non-CO2 Emissions call. More information about the project can be found at: https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101192598
