Pegasor Airam

Pegasor Airam is a standalone ultrafine particle monitor ambient, outdoor air quality measurements. The Airam system is powered by the Pegasor PPS-G2 sensor that provides real-time and accurate information on particle number (PN), lung deposited surface area (LDSA), particle mass (PM) and particle size. The Airam goes beyond traditional PM10 and PM2.5 measurements, aligning with the new European Union Ambient Air Quality Directive, setting stricter limits on key air pollutants, including ultrafine particles (UFPs). The new directive aligns more closely with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) air quality guidelines, aiming to reduce pollutants which are known to cause respiratory and cardiovascular issues.
The Pegasor PPS-G2 sensor operation is based on the unique Pegasor technology that combines diffusion charging with the “escaping current” technology. With this method, particles flow through the sensor and are not collected inside the system, making the maintenance intervals extremely long, even up to years in air quality monitoring applications. The Pegasor Airam system is built within a weather-proof cabinet and equipped with extensive self-diagnostics. A heater for the sensor module is included inside the system to prevent condensation, and the integrated pump with needed filters ensures standalone operation without need for external air supply units. The data is saved on an USB or via Ethernet, 4G or Wi-Fi to external laptop or remote location. The Pegasor Cloud Portal service is also available for remote operation and data storage.

Q&A
Q: Does the Pegasor Airam require working fluids like butanol?
A: No. The Pegasor Airam uses charging technology, meaning it requires zero working fluids, no alcohol, and no radioactive sources.
Q: Is the Pegasor Airam compliant with EU Directive 2024/2881?
A: Yes, it is an ideal tool to support the Directive’s UFP monitoring goals. The Directive mandates Ultrafine Particle monitoring at supersites, specifically requiring Particle Number (PN) concentration and Size Distribution. The Directive also pushes for dense monitoring networks and allows “indicative measurements” where strict reference methods are too expensive or difficult to maintain.
- For PN Concentration: The Pegasor Airam is fully capable. It measures Total Particle Number PN for >10nm in real-time, meeting the critical detection range of the Directive.
- For Size Data: While supersites typically use complex spectrometers for full distribution, the Airam provides Mean Particle Size and LDSA. This makes it the perfect “scalable” instrument to deploy around supersites to map actual human exposure across a city, where deploying expensive spectrometers is impossible.
